Shaver Lake

For Father's Day my dad wanted a family trip to Shaver Lake. With every one's schedules we couldn't make the trip until July, but it was worth the wait.

We went up for a weekend and stayed at "The Moose", a beautiful cabin that is on the edge of the forest. You can walk out the back door and into wilderness. We spent Saturday on the lake. Everyone, but myself, tried to ski- I was too chicken by the end of the day. Clinton was apparently great on the wake board. I missed it since I was on the beach with the babies. (Clinton and Steve had built a fort to shelter the beach dwellers from the sun.) We read magazines and ate way too much junk food. Macy got to eat anything her little heart desired since she could for the first time ever (she is no longer allergic to milk protein).

The weekend was great. We had so much fun laughing, playing cards, and eating. We don't think we'll make it again this summer, but it was nice to get away for a few days and enjoy God's creation and family.

Library

We read to the babies everyday in hopes that they will develop a love for reading. Our brainwashing attempts have been successful as Macy is constantly bringing us books to read. Sometimes we read the same book over and over, usually "La Oveja Rizos". Seeing how Macy is developing a passion for literature I thought she might enjoy a few new books and the chance to explore an area filled with them. So, we took a field trip to the county library.

Our library has recently undergone a major renovation and has a beautiful children's wing. Both babies received their first library card prior to touring the new addition. There was a special section with thick cardboard books just Macy's size. We picked seven books and checked them out. The kids were great and the experience was wonderful. We plan to head back next week as the books are due. Macy will check out a few more books and maybe Owen will get to borrow one, too.

Barbecue at Blain Park

Fun, Friends, and Food

Last night we gathered with our friends for a little outdoor, summer fun.

Macy ate and ate watermellon. She then wowed everyone with her secret crawling ability. Clinton enjoyed frisbee and a bacon cheeseburger.
We ate and laughed. What great friends we have.

Swim Fun

With temperatures reaching 106 degrees and a lack of backseat airconditioning, we thought the babies could use a dip in Grammy's pool.
Last summer Macy loved to swim.
This year not so much. She enjoyed two hours of scooting around the pool and dipping her toes and fingers in the water. Eventually, in her own time, she decided to get in. Since she was still unsure, Clinton held her close and gave her multiple piggy-back rides. She warmed up to these instantly and loved feeling the water move through her fingers.
Grammy's dog, Dash, loves to retrieve anything. This caused Macy to squeal (actually scream) with delight everytime Dash jumped into the pool after his ball, or the pool brush, or ... By the end of the day Macy's diaper was full of pool water and her swimsuit near ruin from scooting. But, what a fun way to cool off.
Owen eventually awoke and entered the cool waters for the first time and loved it. Being that he is only two months old, he couldn't do much. Nevertheless, he kicked and "coo"ed. Perhaps he will be the fish of the family.
Summer is only beginning...
